 Rachel G. Mick

 PRAIRIE CITY  Rachel G. Mick, 91, of Prairie City died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, of heart failure at Clearview Manor in Prairie City.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe with the Rev. Greg Baum officiating. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call Friday after noon at the funeral home where family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the First Baptist Church In Monroe or Clearview Manor in Prairie City.

The daughter of Ben and Laura Renaud Monsma, she was born Jan. 4, 1910, in Lynn Grove. She married Ervie Mick in Sully and lived in Jasper County all of her life. She was a housewife and worked for several years in the kitchen of the Monroe School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe and was also active in the First Baptist Church in Prairie City. She enjoyed flower gardening and bird watching.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marvin and Sharon of Des Moines, Ronald and Martha of Oswego, Ill., and Vernon of North Little Rock. Ark., eight grandchildren: 12, great-grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Arthur De Jong of Sully and a sister-in-law, Wilhelmina Monsma of Pella.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and two sisters.
