 Royal Paul Mikesell

Royal "Roy" Paul Mikesell, 74, of 926 E. 8th St S. died of heart failure Friday. Nov. 30, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

 Graveside services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Red Rock Cemetery in rural Monroe with Elder Sam Nichols of the Community of Christ Church in Knoxville officiating. Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. No visitation is scheduled. Memorials will be accepted in his name.

 The son of Columbus Griffith and Olive Lucinda Cark Mikesell, he was born Sept. 22, 1927, in Red Rock. He was an automotive mechanic in Pella and enjoyed fishing, collecting guns, farming and visiting with friends. He moved from Red Rock to Newton in 1961.

  Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in law, Bill and Ruth of Newton and Hugh and Elizabeth of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.
