William J. Nichols

 COLFAX — William J. Nichols, 75, of Colfax died Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Veterans Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with the Rev. William Jenkins Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Sunday at the funeral home where the family will be prevent from 2 to 4 p.m.

 The son of Walter and Cassie M. Miller Nichols, he was born March 29, 1926, in Pershing. On July 9, 1976, he married Delores Shepley in Oklahoma. He was a cook for the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville and lived in Colfax for the past 38 years.

 Survivors include his wife; four sons and three daughters-in-law, James William and Barb of Knoxville, John William and Barb of Attica, Albert Miller of Boone and Robert William and Joan of Des Moines; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Beatrice and Ron Hensel of Des Moines, Maria Jo Wishmeyer of Knoxville, Kay and Bob Thomas of Harvey and Christina and Lloyd Heston of New Virginia; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister. Rosalie Davies of Mason, Ariz., and two step-sons and daughters-in-law, William and Katie Nelson of Pleasant Hill and Ronald and Sue Breese of Des Moines.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a stepdaughter.
