 Doyle L. Northcott

Doyle L Northcott, 61, of 3308 Parkview Drive died from complications of open-heart surgery Thursday. Feb. 14, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton with the Rev, Syd McCrorey, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in the Veteran's Section. Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where family will be available from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Community Heights Alliance Church in Mr. Northcott's name.  

The son of Leland J. and Rose P. Pacino Northcott, he was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Iowa City. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1959. He served In the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On June 28, 1969, he married Bonnie J. Hopkins in Newton. He worked in shipping and receiving department of the Maytag Company and retired March 31, 2001. He was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church and Maytag Management Club. 

Survivors include his wife, four sons and three daughters-in-law, Danny and Shelly Beeler, Todd and Rhonda Beeler, Chris Northcott and Andy and Thresa Northcott, all of Newton, a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Michael Schurhamer of St. Paul, Minn., 12 grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ernie Knopf of Newton: and a half-brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Gerry Elson of Pueblo, Colo. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
