James H. Palmer, Jr.

James H. "Jimmie" Palmer Jr., 18, of 921 W. 3rd St. S. died Wednesday, Oct. 10, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. James Sears, pastor of Christian Life Center in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name.

 The son of James Palmer Sr., and Marcia Rexroat, he was born Oct. 26, 1982, in Lebu, Chile, South America. His birth mother is Paulina Carrera of Los Alamos, Chile. He was a senior at Newton Senior High School. He was a member of Christian Life Center. He had completed Red Cross disaster training, and was a trained life guard and counselor-in-training for "Burn Camp" at Camp Duncan in Illinois for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance. He was attending Basics and Beyond and worked for Golden Corral.

 Survivors Include four brothers and one sister in Los Alamos, Chile, South America; his mother of Newton; maternal grandmother, Grace Rexroat of Newton; and paternal grandparents, Roberta and Paul Steck of Galesburg. Ill.  

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal grandfather.
