 Floyd Junior Parsons

 Floyd Junior Parsons, 70, of 703 E. 24th St. S. died of heart failure Saturday, Jan. 19, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a. m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Friends may call today at the funeral home where family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in his name.

The son of Floyd O. and Kathryn Couch Parsons, he was born March 16, 1931, in Newton. He attended Newton Community Schools. On Oct. 29, 1950, he married Helena Mettler in Newton. He was employed by the Maytag Company, working in the rubber and porcelain department for 30 years. He retired in 1979. Mr. Parsons was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, UAW Local 997 and former member of Newton Moose Lodge.     

 Survivors include his wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Julie and Steve F. and Phyl1is, all of Newton, a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy L. and Roger Rupp of Clinton, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, a grandson and two brothers.
