Mildred Provin

Mildred “Millie” Provin. 78, of 1509 W. 13th S. died from a heart condition Oct. 4 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran  Church  in Newton with the Rev. Matthew Marten officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. 

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral  home where family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to First Lutheran Church.

The daughter of George and Alice Nielsen Knopf, she   was   born   Dec.    24,     1922,   in   Alamo,    Ga.    She graduated from Rippey High School.  On Oct. 22, 1950, she married Paul J. Provin in Newton. She worked in customer service for Hawkeye Bank in Newton for 40 years. She retired when she was 62.

Mrs. Provin was a member of First Lutheran Church In Newton and a member of Skiff Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and needlework. She and her husband had spent their winters in Florida after their retirement. She had lived in Newton for 54 years. 

Survivors include her husband; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Betty Knopf of Newton and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great-nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
