George H. Rainey

George H. Rainey, 66, of 2600 S. 3rd Ave. E. died of respiratory failure Thursday, Jan. 10, at     Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pence Funeral Home in Newton with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center officiating. Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in his name.

The son of John and Helen Faye Dillon Rainey, he was born May 11, 1935, in Knob Noster, Mo., where he attended school. Mr. Rainey served in the United States Army and enjoyed the outdoors, watching television and working crossword puzzles.  He was a truck driver.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Lisa Rainey of Norbourne, Mo., five daughters and three sons-in-law, Marilyn and Phillip Wright and Brenda and John Hayes of Norbourne, Mo., Carolyn and Gilbert Periman of Colona, Mo., Georgie Dee Anna Jones of Kansas City, Mo., and Ruth Ann Hefley of Newton, four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard of Baxter and Robert and Wanda of Knob Noster, Mo., and companion, JoAnn Hefley of Newton.     

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
