Ruth Ross K.
Ruth Ross, 92, of 200 S. 8th Ave. E. in Newton, formerly of Reasnor, died of
heart failure Tuesday, Feb. 19, at USA Healthcare Newton. Funeral services will
be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with
Chaplain Merle Smith officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural
Newton. Family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service
Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be
left at the funeral home. The
daughter of Lon and Maggee (Hicksenbaugh) Abel, she was born Sept. 22, 1909, in
Ness County, Kan., where she attended school. On Nov. 5, 1927, she married Glenn
Franklin Ross in Ness City, Kan. She was a homemaker, horse trainer and she gave
riding lessons. She was a resident of Reasnor from 1978 until 2001. She also
lived in Missouri and Nebraska prior to moving to Reasnor. Mrs. Ross was a
member of Rebekah Lodge and was a founding member of the Newton Saddle Club, who
helped organize the first Newton Horse Show. Survivors
include a daughter, M. Fern Bookout of Newton, five grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several
step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, eight brothers and
