A. Rundall William
A. Rundall, 84, of 312 W. 10th St. N, died of cancer Saturday, Aug. 25, at Skiff
Medical Center In Newton. A memorial service will be held
Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Newton with the Rev. Gene
Bryant officiating. Private family burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.
Wallace Family Funeral Home In Newton is handling arrangements. Friends may call Tuesday after 1
p.m. at the church where family will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Memorials will be accepted to the donor's choice. The
son of John A. "Jack" and Gladys 0. Ramsey Rundall, he was born Nov.
28, 1916, in Chapel, Neb. He was a graduate of Central City High School in 1934
and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He grew up in Linn County and
lived in West Branch prior to moving to Newton in 1956. On Aug. 21, 1942, he
married Arlene M. Still. He served in the United States Army during World War
II. Mr.
Rundall was a member of the First Christian Church, a lifetime charter member of
the Newton Optimist Club, past president of Newton Optimist Club, member and
past president of Iowa Chapter of the International Conference of Building
Officials, and he was a boy scout, a past leader and a board member of the Boy
Scouts of America. He enjoyed flower gardening, Mr. Rundall worked for the
City of Newton for 17 years. He started working in the engineering department,
then was Planning and Zoning Administrator when he retired in 1981. Survivors
include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan D. and Linda of Cedar Falls; a
daughter and son-in-law, Susan K. and Jim Daniels of South St. Paul, Minn. four
grandchildren: one great-grandchild; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and
Johanna Rundall of Julesburg, Colo., Keith and Dorothy of Stoneham, Colo., Don
and Mary of Ovid, Colo., a sister. Marian Bragdon of Casper, Wyo., many nieces
and nephews and special family friends, Mike and Shirley Goodwin of Newton. He was preceded
in death by his parents, stepmother, Mary Rundall Chapman, his maternal
