M. Schwienebart BAXTER
— Earl M. Schwienebart, 78, of rural Baxter died Monday, Dec. 10, at the home
of his daughter near Colfax. Following cremation, graveside services will be held
Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Restland
Cemetery in Baxter with the Rev. Eugene Bucklin of Baxter Evangelical Free
Church officiating. Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements. A public gathering will be
held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter. Memorials
will be accepted to the Baxter or Colfax Rescue Units. The son of William and Helen
Breer Schwienebart, he was born Aug. 5, 1923, in rural Baxter. He was educated in the
Baxter school system. He worked at various jobs in his youth, from picking
apples and hops in Washington State to driving government trucks in Virginia. He
returned to Iowa and on Nov. 27, 1942, he married Allene Van Cleave in
Princeton, Mo. He farmed in Conrad prior to purchasing the family farm north of
Baxter. Mr. Schwienebart
owned Earl and Al’s Hardware in Clyde and did custom baling and combining
locally. He retired from Lennox Industries of Marshalltown after 20 years of
service. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Survivors include two
daughters and a son-in-law, Erlene and Terry Leonard of Colfax and Kaylene
Reardon of Phoenix, Ariz., a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Max Levis
of Marshalltown, and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by
