Lillian Thompson SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Elsie
Lillian Thompson, 87, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Newton died Saturday,
Jan. 19, in Scottsdale. Ariz. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb.
1, at the First Christian Church in Newton with the Rev. Gene Bryan officiating.
A private family burial will be held prior to the service. In lieu of flowers,
memorial has been established in her name at the First Christian Church. The
daughter of Edmund and
Minnie Fisk, she was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Mystic. She met her husband, Parker,
while working in the dining room of the Maytag Hotel. They were married for
56years. She lived in Newton most of her life until 1998 when she moved to
Arizona to be closer to her family. Mrs. Thompson volunteered much of her time
greeting fellow voters at local and national elections and gathering information
for the census. She enjoyed volunteer work at her church. In the last two years,
she lived in an assisted
living home in Scottsdale. Survivors
include a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Carolyn of Scottsdale, Ariz., two
granddaughters, and siblings Bertha Hirshenson and Bill Fisk of California and
Francis Leigh of Iowa. Preceding
