M. Wonders Garland
M. Wonders, 90, of 2130 W. 18th St. died of heart failure Tuesday, Feb. 19, at
Careage Newton. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Newton First
Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ed Aubuchon officiating. Burial will be at
Newton Union Cemetery. Pence Funeral Home to Newton is handling arrangements.
There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Memorials will be accepted
to Newton First Assembly of God Church. The
son of William C. and Ola (Hughes) Wonders, he was born Nov. 4, 1911, in
Connellsville, Mo. On Sept. 8. 1953, he married Irene Price in Newton. He was a
member of the United States Army during World War II, serving on a team to
maintain the telephone communication system. Mr. Wonders retired from People's
Natural Gas, where he worked as a pipe fitter. He enjoyed wood crafting. Survivors
include, two sons, Donald of Texas and Robin of California, a daughter, Nova
Ortiz of Texas, 34 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and two sisters,
Esther Danley and Kathryn Hasselman, both of Newton. He
