 Ruth E. Youngkin

Ruth E. Youngkin, 73, of 1116 N. 4th Ave. W. died from complications of pulmonary fibrosis Sunday, Sept. 9, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church In Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery In Lynnville. Wallace Family Funeral Home In Newton is handling arrangements. No visitation is scheduled. Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.

 The daughter of Earl E, and Nettie I. Hannagan Snook, she was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1946. On April 18, 1948, she married Robert V. Youngkin in Killduff. She worked in Admitting and on the switchboard for 24 years at Skiff Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Newton.

 Survivors include her husband, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis E. and Sara J. of Montezuma, Hal R. and LuAnne of Irwin and Larry D. of N. Miami Beach, Fla., a daughter and son-in-law, Shari L. and Alan Good of Newton, seven grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer L. and Betty Snook of Newton and Kenneth and Doris Snook of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, grandson and a brother.
