Our greeting into Rhodt was a
celebration. If you look closely, you'll see the steeple of
the church behind the house. It is enclosed in scaffolding
because of renovation. The wagon carrying the accordion
players also holds the ornament that was to sit atop the
church spire. It is a rooster weather vane and was quite a
handsome gold leaf piece of art.
The band, along with the Grape Queen riding in a horse drawn carriage, went slowly down the street stopping and playing music about every block. Children on decorated bicycles and adults followed the parade, gathering more participants along the way.
The children collected donations to help pay for the church renovation.
