Death of Frank Hardenbrook
Mr. Frank A. Hardenbrook died at his home in Metz, Sunday
morning at about 1:45. He had been seriously sick but five
days, heart trouble being the cause of his sickness.
Mr. Hardenbrook was born in Iowa thirty eight years ago and
has lived in Jasper County nearly all his life. His wife's
maiden name was Sarah E. Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George W. Miller, of Metz. Besides his wife, he leaves five
children, two boys and three girls, all between the ages of
seven and seventeen. One brother, Orin, lives in Texas.
Mr. Hardenbrook was highly respected by all who knew him and
his death will be mourned by a large number. The funeral was
held yesterday afternoon. October 1909.
Frank Hardenbrook was born near Newton, Iowa, July 20, 1871, and died at his home in Metz on October 24, 1909. He married Sadie E. Miller, March 11, 1891. Five children: Evan, Elsie E., Ethel, Georgia and Frank M., whom with their mother survive. He also leaves a younger brother, Ormand, of Keechi, Texas. Mrs. Hardenbrook Dies at Skiff Hospital Today
Mrs. Sarah Hardenbrook, 79, died at 5:35 this morning at
Skiff memorial hospital following several years of illness.
During the past two weeks her condition became more
critical.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Miller, she was born
in a log cabin in the Metz vicinity, and had spent her
entire life in Jasper county. Following her marriage Mar.
11, 1891, to Frank A. Hardenbrook, a railroad agent for the
C.R. I and P Ry. Co. they made their home in a house built
upon the site of her birth.
Mr. Hardenbrook died 38 years ago and a daughter, Ethel
Gibson died 25 years ago. After the death of hr daughter she
made a home for here three grandchildren, Margaret, Elma Mae
and Frances Gibson.
She is survived by two sons, Evan Millison Hardenbrook,
Frank McKee Hardenbrook, two daughters Mrs. Dolar (Elsie)
Huff all of Newton and Mrs. F.L. (Georgia) Logsdon of Des
Moines, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and two
brothers, Melvin Miller and C.I. Miller and two sisters,
Mrs. Elmer Emmack and Mrs. W.H. Brock all residing near
Newton.
Mrs. Hardenbrook was a teacher prior to her marriage. She
was a member of the Methodist church, of the Good Samaritan
class of that church, the W.S.C.S. and had been active in
past years in Newton Bible Class. She was a member of the Daily News Three-Quarter Century Club.
Funeral services will be held from the First Methodist church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Dr. E.A. Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery. ~ The Newton Daily News, July 21, 1947, page 1
