Will Hold Rites for W. O. Henney Friday Afternoon
William Oliver Henney, pioneer farmer of the Sugar Grove
neighborhood died this morning following an illness of two
years. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2
o'clock at the Murdoch funeral home and burial will be in
the Sugar Grove cemetery.
Rev. ?. H. Paeterson, pastor of the Baptist church will
have charge of the services.
Henney was born February 25, 1851. He is survived by one
daughter Mrs. Gibson of the Sugar Grove neighborhood and one
son, Wayne, now in the Unites States Army. Mrs. Henney died

Mrs. Henney Dies Today
Mrs. Henney of Metz Dies today. No Funeral Arrangements
made pending word from son in the west.
Mrs. Nancy Jane Henney of near Metz, died suddenly this
morning at 2:15 o'clock at the Skiff Memorial hospital. Mrs.
Henney was 65 years old. Funeral services will be held at
the Murdoch Funeral Home. The time has not yet been set
pending word from her son in the west.
Mrs. Henney is survived by her husband, W.O. Henney, one
daughter, Mrs. Orie Gibson of near Metz, who made her home
with her mother, one son William Wayne Henney, a sailor on
board the U.S.S. Maryland which is now on the western coast,
and one granddaughter, Lola Florence Gibson. Mrs. Henney has
been in poor health for a number of months but her condition
had not been thought serious by her immediate relatives. She
took suddenly ill last Monday evening and was taken to Skiff
Memorial hospital Tuesday evening where her condition grew
rapidly worse and she died early this morning.
Mrs. Henney was born April 19, 1863, and has lived
practically her entire life in this vicinity and was well
known throughout Jasper county. She lived for many years on
the old Miller homestead near Metz. ~ Newton Daily News,

Funeral Services for Mrs. Henney
To Hold Funeral Services Sunday: Rites for Mrs. Nancy
Jane Henney to be Conducted at Murdoch Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Jane Henney of near Metz,
who died suddenly early Wednesday morning in the Skiff
Memorial hospital, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2
o'clock at the Murdoch Funeral home.
The rites will be conducted by the Rev. P. H. Peterson,
pastor of the local Baptist church and burial will be made
in the Sugar Grove cemetery which originally was a part of
her father's homestead.
Fred Hough will sing two selections including "Crossing the Bar" and "Face to Face" and will be accompanied on the piano
by his daughter, Miss Marjorie Hough. Pallbearers will be
W.M. Brock, Clarence Miller, John Hitchler, Elmer Emmack,
Henry Cannon and Fred Engle. Mrs. W. J. Miller will have
charge of the flowers.
Mrs. Henney has been in ill health for several months but
her condition has not been considered serious by her
immediate relatives. She became suddenly ill at her home
last Monday evening and on Tuesday evening she was taken to
the Skiff Memorial hospital where her condition grew rapidly
worse and where she died early Wednesday morning at the age
of 65 years.
Nancy Jane Miller was born April 19, 1862 on a farm several
miles west of this city. She was the last of a family of
eight children born to John and Lucretia Jane Miller,
pioneers of Jasper county and later, Mr. Miller with his
family moved to a farm near Metz. Following the death of her
parents, the family home became the property of Mrs. Henney,
where she spent practically her entire life.
She was united in marriage to W. O. Henney on Nov 28, 1900
and to this union two children were born both of whom
survive her. They are Mrs. Hazel Gibson of near Metz and one
son William Wayne. Mrs. Gibson with her husband Orie Gibson
and five year old daughter have been living at the Henney
home. William Henney, for the last two and half years has
been on the U.S.S. Maryland, now stationed at Seattle, Wash.
and he is expected to arrive here Sunday morning. ~ Newton
