Obituary of Bill Reeder
Elmer M. Reeder Jr.: Elmer M. “Bill” Reeder Jr., 68, of 1208 N. 4th Ave. E. died of congestive heart failure Saturday, Sept. 6, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Pastor Eugene Bucklin of the Evangelical Free Church in Baxter officiating. Private family burial will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County Capital Campaign and may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Elmer M. and Mildred L. (Pence) Reeder, he was born Jan. 21, 1935 in Russell. He attended school in Chariton. On July 13, 1953, he married Dorothy Jean Kohler in Des Moines. He worked at Maytag for 47 years and retired in 2000 as a supervisor. He moved to Newton in 1952.
Mr. Reeder enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to casinos. He was a past member of Maytag Management Club and the Izaak Walton League.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Crook of Newton, Cheryl and John Houseman of Des Moines, Diane and Bill Webster of Newton and Edie and Carl Simmons of Baxter; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many aunts and uncles.
