Andrew "Andy" Engle was born November 19, 1850, in Benton Ridge, Hancock Co., Ohio and died February 6, 1944, in Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa. He was first married to Caroline Davidson who died after birthing twins - one of the twins, Carrie, died with her. Their children were Fred, James and the twins Percy and Caroline; Andy next married Mary "Molly" Francis Berry whom he met in New York City. She was born in Liverpool, England.
Andy was quite a character in his day as he was an inventor and came up with some pretty wild ideas for his time - but many proved to be useful inventions. He was a great speaker and also wrote poetry.
