DESCENDANTS OF ELLIOT BAIRD Submitted by, Kelly Loveless Center Point, Iowa rkia52213@fmtcs.com 1-Elliot L Baird , son of Samuel Baird and Salinee Patterson, was born about 1861 in Pennsylvaina, died in Linn Co, Iowa, and was buried in Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa. General Notes:E.L. Baird Claimed By Death Monday Elliot L Baird passed away Monday morning May 12th at the home of his son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Clay, four miles south of Center Point. He would have been 86 years old May the 19th. Because of advancing age and the accompanying decline in health Mr. Baird and curtailed his activities during the past several years, but his last illness was of short duration. He became ill on Sunday May 4th and his death occurred on Monday of the following week. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Sarchett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Ward of Cedar Rapids conducting the last rites. Mrs. C.E. Liabo and Miss Ida Holland accompanied by Mrs. T.E. Condon sang "Asleep in Jesus" and I'm Acquainted With the Author So I Know the Book is True." The pall bearers were Ernest Lanning, Earl Lanning, Will Lanning, A.H. Ring, A.E. Andrews and Ed Matheny. At the conclusion of the service the body was conveyed to Clarence for burial in the cemetery at that place. Native of Pennsylvania Mr. Baird was a native of Pennsylvania. He was born at Academia in that state, one of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Baird, and he was the last survivor of that family. In the year 1891 he was married to Miss Anna Belle Freeman of Clarence, Iowa. Mrs. Baird passed awayin 1893 when their second child was born. Mr. Baird farmed form many years in vicinity of Clarence, coming to the Center Point community some twenty years ago. For twenty-eight years he had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Clay. He is survived by two daughters -- Mrs. Clay of Center Point; and Mrs. Elmer Sprout of Salem, South Dakota; and three grandchildren Miss Vera Sprout of Parker, South Dakota; Willard Clay of Cedar Rapids; and Lucile Clay of Center Point. Wilsona nd John Clay, all of Olin; Miss Nettie Brown of Anamosa; Harley Robertson and Mr. and Gaylord Owen of Lisbon; Mr. and Mrs Guy Martin of Central City' Mr. and Mrs. William Lary and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hammond of Marion and Mrs. Willard Clay of Cedar Rapids. Elliot married Anna Freeman, daughter of Hamilton Freeman and Agnes Moore, in 1891 in Jones Co., Iowa. Anna was born in 1863 in Jones Co., Iowa and died in 1893. Daughter married Elmer Sprout. They had one child: Vera. 3-Vera Sprout .
