ACCIDENT AT THE HOME OF THOMAS KEARNS

A sad accident occurred at the home of Thomas Kearns on last Sunday
evening, August 10, 1896. William Kearns lives about thirty rods east of his
brother Thomas. On Sunday evening, little Ethel, the nineteen month old
daughter of William was over at her Uncle Thomas' playing about the yard. On
going to the pump to get a drink, she stepped upon a loose board and board
and child fell to the bottom of the well eighteen feet below. By the time
the child was recovered life was extinct. Ethel was born on December 18,
1894. the funeral services were held at the house Tuesday at 11 a.m.. Rev.
Dillaman Smith preached the sermon. Burial was in the Jordan's Grove
Cemetery.
