Welcome to the "Hawkeye" State and the Iowa History and Genealogy Project, an independent site of the American History & Genealogy Project.  My name is Kim Gordon and I am your new Iowa State Coordinator.  Our aim is to help the family genealogist find their roots, learn about the lifestyles of their ancestors and to provide everyone with the resources needed to learn about the history of the State of Iowa.

At the County Sites you will find a listing of all the state counties which have been adopted or are awaiting adoption while the County Links section is a listing of other Iowa websites.  The State Links will provide the researcher with valuable resources to aid them in their search.  Through the AHGP Affiliated Family Pages you will find researchers with Iowa related information, and, finally in the State Topics section are the sites relating to a specific area of Iowa History.

Want to ADOPT a county for this state?  Go to About This Project for information on what is required for hosting a county on this site, then, select Adopt a County to email the State Coordinator with your request.
