Henderson County was established January 20, 1841 from Warren County. It was named after Henderson County, Kentucky, through the influence of emigrants from that Kentucky county. The county seat is Oquawka. Information regarding the Henderson County Illinois Family History and Genealogy Society, which was begun in 2003, is available from the county library site.
