Here is a larger picture.
My great-grandfather, Charles Oscar Jern, as well as other members of his
family, used to work in an Oquawka button factory. I don't know if this is
the one or even if there were more than one.
One more thing -- the pile of "rocks" in front of the building
is actually the remnants of shells from which the buttons were stamped out
(i.e., mother of pearl).
