Newspapers

Newspapers give us more than those vital statistics we are looking for - they also give a snapshot of how our ancestors lived, making early newspapers an invaluable genealogical resource. Fortunately, Henderson County had several newspapers published throughout it's history. Available newspaper resources include

Microfilmed newspapers available for interlibrary loan:
- Surviving copies of newspapers have been microfilmed, and those microfilms are available for interlibrary loan through The Illinois State Historical Library.
  
  Please note - the microfilms do NOT have numbers. To place an inter-library loan, go to your local library and request the film that contains the dates and location for which you are searching.
- This list of available microfilmed newspapers is from material sent by John Arthur (thanks John!), and gives the issue dates of those surviving copies. You may choose to view the list of newspapers by:

  - Name of Newspaper
- The Illinois Newspaper Project also maintains a list, although not detailed, of Henderson County Newspapers. This would also be a good site to locate newspapers from adjoining counties.
