Armstrong Family Cemetery, contributed by Laura of Elmore, IL. Knox County, IL Cemeteries

I am calling this cemetery Armstrong on account of it's what Laura called it. She said it has been there for years & nobody has ever done anything about it and makes her mad what the farmer is doing to it. She thought of me in my quest to try & help & do something about this sort of thing. So, I am try'n my best as the farmer will soon be picking beans and driving back over these poor people's stones with no one there to stop him. So, Please Help!!! Thanks!!!

If you have any information on the persons buried here I would love to hear from you and also any other possibilities of people buried here. I am working on finding out more about it. Thanks so much for your time.

Greep Anderson Cemetery, Truro Twp., Knox Co., IL Genealogy & History Fhotos by Foxie Hagerty To get to this cemetery if you are in Williamsfield, IL, head out north on IL Sate Hwy 180, about two miles, just before the Caldwell Creek is a cross roads. You turn East right on 1660N. You stay on that road and follow it. when you see a curve it turns into 2325E. you will also see a dead end sign follow that road straight east. just before you come to a for Sale sign on a new house property and the curve in the road pull over. You will see a mound, not so much a mound any longer as I cut most of it down this afternoon, but it looks like a water way in the bean field. That is where the cemetery is. If this is the Greep - Anderson Cemetery then there should of been about 1/4 acre. It's about the same place. And so named on account of the Eric Able & his wife Caroline J. Greep conveyed a warrant to John A. Anderson of County of Knox except for one fourth of an acre to be used as a cemetery. So, there should be more people buried here. Plus, the Talked the Farmer who farms the ground tonight Oct 01, 2008 eight pm  and he assured me he does not drive his equipment over the stones. He's a very nice gentleman & will talk to the Woman who owns the ground very soon. She  has some problems right now; have also found our some information on the families who are buried there & will be posting later when it all gets sorts out and comes together. anyone who is descended would truly love to hear from you. I have Armstrong's in my line of descent and would love to know if there is a connection I'm working on it I re-track what I said earlier.. I noted who was buried there and the condition of the stones. This needs immediate attention and I'm trying my best. September 30, 2008. Pictures took today will be on the next page.

Greep Anderson Cemetery, Truro Twp., Knox Co., IL Genealogy & History Fhotos by Foxie HagertyKate standing where most of the tombstones are piled. some are scattered around this little area.  the road you see if the distance will take you heading west and the way I came to IL State Hwy 180 which would be a little north of Williamsfield, IL, and just above the Caldwell Creek where the highway crosses over and the road continuing on west goes right by the Old Caldwell Cemetery, and on over to my house. if the follow the gravel road on easternly & nothernly it will eventually take you into Elmore. this road is a dead end road off of it with or what looked to be and old farm homestead on the corner with on an old corn crib, barn, etc. left to show for it.

Today is Tuesday, September 30, 2008, I did go to the library yesterday to look up some things on the people buried here but got lost as I generally do when trying to find something. Another article will catch my eye or I'll see a name that someone is looking for and I'm off going somewhere else. My quest for today is to find out who owns the property and to try and put a stop to them driving their machinery over the top of these people's grave's and ruining what little is left to show where they are buried. Looks to me like yet another farmer has ruined the last resting place of one of our ancestors.

takes almost 8minutes to download over a slow internet connection. I tend to try & leave my photos a little large for better viewing. any one having any information on these people or this cemetery I want to hear from you. Thanks!
