The Peoria County Genealogical Society was organized in April of 1973, and charter membership was closed on the 12th day of June 1973 with seventy members. The first issue of "Prairie Roots" was published in the summer of 1974. PCGS NEWS is a monthly newsletter of the Peoria County Genealogical Society that comes out 10 times a year.

The Society's main purpose is to preserve, perpetuate, and replicate the records of our ancestors; with Peoria County Illinois being the primary area of concern.
