Happy 80th Birthday, Father

    Ormand "Andy" Edward Anderson was born on October 20, 1924, near Bradford, IL, to Edward Bruce/Edward and Lona Olna Kelley Anderson, both are deceased.   He was raised in Wyoming, Stark County, IL, where he attended the area schools.  Father was a Medic in World War II, under President Eisenhower who was a commander in chief at the time.

     On May 29, 1948, at the Central Congregational Church, Galesburg, Knox County, IL, he married Emma Mae Terpening, daughter of John Wesley and Katheryn Arleigh Shenaut, who are now both deceased. 

    Ormand and Emma had eight children, two dying in infancy.  The surviving ones are Gary Wayne & Linda Anderson of Toulon, IL; Ronald & Foxie Augusta Alexandria Hagerty of Dahinda, IL, Wendell and Rita Jane Saltzman of Kewanee, IL, John Thomas Anderson of Altona, IL  Edwin Wesley & Lisa Anderson of Aledo,  IL, and David and Tracy Anderson of Wichita, KS, who just gave them a new granddaughter, Erin Mae Anderson, born on August 23, 2004.  The Anderson's have twelve grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

    Ormand worked for Galesburg Construction company for over 20 years.  They sold out to Lundeen Construction. Father worked for them until he retired.  Mom and Dad used to live across from the Galva Cemetery in a big white house.  Dad always had a big garden.  He didn't like to eat allot of the things he grew, but said he liked to watch plants grow. 

    Not sure on plans for birthday but want to have a celebration at Thanksgiving when his youngest son's (David) comes home for a visit.  You can send cards to him at 401 East Main Street, Altona, IL. Thanks.
