Little York Cemetery
Little York Cemetery is located in the southwest quarter of Section 21 in Sumner Twp. It is situated in the town of Little York, Il. Although there were earlier burials, the land was not deeded to the Little York Cemetery Association until March 3, 1923 by H. L. Martin and February 6, 1924 by the Village of Little York, IL., with both deeds being recorded March 20, 1924. The cemetery is approximately 3 acres in size and is well maintained. In June 1981, the Little York Cemetery inscriptions were identified as:
Foxie's Source:
The inscriptions contained within were identified by careful recording and checking of the tombstones of the burial grounds listed. Markers and/or emblems were identified with the tombstone when and where they appeared. We do not claim the accuracy of their placement in the cemetery.
May our endeavors be beneficial to you and yours. Compiled and edited by members of the Cemetery Committee of the
Warren County, Illinois
Genealogical Society
I am a member of the Society. and have also been to this cemetery many times and last October just before Halloween my daughter, Kate, and I took plenty of tombstone photos before going to the Church across the Street for Halloween Fun night.
– Foxie Hagerty bought a copy of these inscriptions from the Warren County Genealogical Society for $4.50 to put here for your convenience.-
The Little York Cemetery is located in Little York, Sumner Township, Warren County, IL. I have recently visited this cemetery but due to the cold weather and snow my daughter and I didn't do more than to take a few pictures. I first had part of the listing done in Word 6 and have went from that to FrontPage and it is giving me a headache. So parts of this cemetery listing will be in tables I've remade from data from the Word 6 file an then the latter part is all in a table. Parts will not be in a table as it was becoming too time consuming to figure it all out to make it work correctly and want to get more information online for your convenience.
Any Person who has a military stone or marker is highlighted in bold and red coloring. Any other emblem markers are boldly in darker blue. EST= Eastern Star Marker, AML =American Legion Marker, DAR= DAughters of the American Revolution, Like to stick with my red, white, and blue theme. My father brought me up to love my country.
