The following Obituaries I've rewritten from Area papers as to not infringe on copyright laws. Mostly they will be of people who are over 80 years of age. Plus, they might not all be from Warren County, IL, but would like to pay tribute here to their long lives. |
Galesburg Register Mail Friday, April 1, 2005 Harriet Stewart Galesburg Register Mail, Wednesday April 06, 2005 Gloria Y. Switzer, Monmouth--- Gloria Y. Switzer, age 81, Monmouth, died Monday, April 04, 2005 in the Monmouth Nursing Home. Gloria was born January 2, 1924, in Rock Island, the adopted daughter of jack and Bessie Nelson Britton. Gloria married Edward Switzer on June 13, 1942, in Monmouth. Edward died December 07, 1970. Surviving Gloria are two daughters, Marianne Switzer, Monmouth, and Joyce & Richard Goff Biggsville; one son, Carl & Jane Switzer, Monmouth. Also, surviving Gloria are four great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Gloria was raised and educated in the Alexis Schools where she graduated from the Alexis High School. Gloria worked for the Woolworth Cafe, and the Applegate Nursing Home Cafeteria as a cook. Cremation was accorded. The graveside memorial service was at 11 a on Saturday, April 09, 2005, at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev Ken Muck officiating. All friends may call Friday and Saturday at the Turnball Funeral Home. No family visitation was planned. Carrie B. Starcevich Farmington---Carrie Belle Starcevich, age 86, Farmington, died Tuesday April 05, 2005 in the St. Francis Medial Center, Peoria, Il. Carrie was born February 06, 1918, in Farmington. Carrie's parents were the late Harvey and Maude Carter Painter. On March 06, 1938, she married John Starcevich in Kahoka, Mo. John died July 08, 1995. Surviving Carrie are two sons, Larry & Carily Starcevich, Farmington, and Rickey & Rhonda Starcevich, Canton. Carrie has three daughters, Velma & Jerry Harris, Canton, Sharon & Kenneth Welker, Farmington, and Shirley & Gene Allen of Galesburg. Carries was also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Carries was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Carrie was a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau. Graveside service was held Friday April 08, 2005, at 10 a in the Yates City Cemetery, with the Rev. Kevin VanTine officiating. Visitation was on Thursday, April 07, 2005. Memorial may be made to the Yates City Rescue or BYE Ambulance Service, Yates City, IL. Viola Streitmatter Princeville---Viola L. Streitmatter, 95, of rural Princeville, died Tuesday, April, 12, 2005, at Restmor Nursing Home, Morton. Viola's funeral services will be held at 10a Saturday, April 16, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Princeville. The Ministers officiating at her service. Visitation will be from 4p - 8p Friday at the Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and from (a -9:45a at the church on Saturday. They will bury Viola in the Streitmatter Cemetery, Princeville. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church, Princeville, which she attended. Viola was born February 03, 1910, in Akron Township, Peoria County, the daughter of Peter and Emma Kupfer Streitmatter. Viola leaves three sisters to mourn her; Sadie E. Streitmatter of Peoria, Elma H. Brown of Jacksonville, and Laura J. Hartness of Peoria; she also leaves behind several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Viola's parents preceded her in death. Viola worked as a housekeeper for several families in the Peoria and Princeville areas. Later on in life she worked in the Heat Treat Department of Caterpillar for 10 years. In 1947, Viola left Caterpillar to help with the family farm, where she lived her remaining days. James Norbom Galva--James V. Norbom 85 years of age of Galva, died Thursday, March 03, 2005, at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside and inurnment services will be held at 1`:30 p Saturday, April 16, at the Galva Cemetery, with the Reverend Leo Smith officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers.
