To this union was born Sarah about 1833; Leonard abut 1835; George (my grandfather) about 1842, Rebecca;and Edward about 1850. I have found that Singleton BOWERS fought in the Black Hawk War; and had land grants in White County. Does anyone have any other information, i.e., where he came from, who his parents were, etc. George BOWERS married (second) Mary Elizabeth Whitner SHAIN about 1902. Their children were: George, Gordon, Lela, and John Franklin (my father).

QRYTEXT: I'm researching the Stokes Chapel Church of White County,Illinois. Itwas originated in 1815 as a hut at the home of Young and Sarah Stokes.There were a large congeration that attended service there as it grew. The Chapel had a Home Coming of some kind in october 5, 1941.At some later date it closed completely. I'm intrested in getting in touch with these families, that are still left in White County whose family may have gone to the Stokes Chapel Church. Young Stokes is my gt,gt,gt,GPa. His sons were James Greeneb. 1804, Married Nancy Graves, James Greene, b.1836 Marrried Polly Brown, Charles Henry b.1863 married Annie Dunn And I was wondering if there are any Stokes, or any familys left in the area related to the Stokes who might have some information.
