NAME:DAN GOODWIN

SURNAMES: NAMES: GOODWIN: STERLING: ENDSLEY
I am trying to confirm if my Great Grandmother Sarah GOODWIN (nee STERLING) is the same Sarah STERLING who appears on the 1860 U.S. Census of WHITE County Illinois with her family. Her father was listed as Thomas STERLING, her mother as Rebecca J. STERLING (nee ENDSLEY). The father came from Blount County Tennessee, and the mother was born in North Carolina. The census record said Sarah STERLING was 9 years old, which fits with my Great Grandmother's age (28) in 1880. Her birthplace was listed as Tennessee. If this is her, she later married Thomas GOODWIN and moved to Texas by 1880, and appeared on the U.S. Census for Grayson County Texas that year. Thanks for any info.

Thanks DAN GOODWIN

NAME:NANCY TRICE

SURNAMES:FINNEY; BROCKETT

I am the coordinator for the Hopkins Co KyGenWeb page. One of the projects I am working on is MATTIES SCRAPBOOK OF OBITUARIES. This is a large scrapbook of obituaries, all of whom apparently have a connection to our family in Hopkins/Webster Counties Ky. Mattie, who was my husbands aunt apparently kept the obits on all of our family members, however she never made a notation of the paper name and seldom the date of death. The earliest death I have found is 1905. Mattie died in 1972 so it can safely be assumed that 1972 would be the latest date. In putting this together for the Hopkins Co page I am attempting to locate the burial place of everyone in order to give some added value to the obituaries for anyone visiting the page. In addition to showing the burial location of the deceased I am also showing the spouses if known and any others who are possibly kin that are buried with or near the deceased.

I have an obituary for Walter L FINNEY, age 72, resided in Slaughters, Webster Co, Ky, died Madisonville, Hopkins Co, Ky and buried in Carmi. His widow was named Mai FINNEY, his sister was Mrs Elsie BROCKETT, Carmi.

If anyone has a cemetery book for Carmi would you please look for Walter L FINNEY. If found, I would appreciate also knowing who is buried next to him if it is readily apparent they are kin...

Thanks, NANCY TRICE;
KyGenWeb Coordinator

NAME:DEBBY BEHELER

SURNAMES:TRUSTY; TUCKER

Emma TRUSTY(b.Sep 1870 d 7 Apr 1903) was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth TUCKER and Henry H. TRUSTY. Emma was born in White Co., IL as was her father and probably her mother. Her grandfather and great-grandfather, James Vinson and Henry TRUSTY migrated to White Co., IL by 1836 (land purchase) from NC.
In the 1880 census Emma is listed with her mother and step-father (James E Walton) and step siblings. What happened to Henry H.? There is family legend that Emma's daughter Edna (our ancestor b. 23 Feb 1895) was a twin and that her twin sister was killed in a freak accident as a small child. Emma is listed in the 1900 census as being the mother of 4 with 2 living, so this is possible. Does anyone have any death records or a connection to this family? Also, I don't have anything on the TUCKERs yet.

Thanks DEBBY BEHELER<

Dale R. Lutz Sat Nov 9 06:30:10 1996
White Co., IL Surnames: BUNTING, JOHNSON, LUTZ,
Seeking info on families of Sarah (Sally?) BUNTING and related individuals. I descend from Sarah BUNTING and John M. Johnson, who was the son of Simon JOHNSON, an emmigrant from Billinghurst, Sussex, England to White Co., IL. John and Sarah's daughter, Mary S. Johnson FOSTER, was born 19 September, 1855, near Grayville, Illinois, which is adjacent to Edwards County. By about 1857, John Johnson had taken Parthania GARNER as his wife, and she bore him several children and survived him. I am assuming that Sarah BUNTING either died young, or divorced and perhaps returned to England(?). The BUNTING family in neighboring Edwards Co., IL, is known to have emmigrated from Quainton, Buckinghamshire, England, starting in 1830. Mary S. JOHNSON first married Moses(?) FOSTER, then married Lawrence LUTZ. This Lutz family later moved to Douglas Co., IL, near Arcola.
