QRYTEXT: My great, great, grandfather was Francis M. CHARLES. He was a resident of Grayville and the towns first mayor. His brother William Stanley CHARLES established the "Grayville Weekly Journal" in 1856 which later became the "White County Advocate." His grandfather was Henry CHARLES who came from NC and settled in "Phillips Township". His father was Henry CHARLES who was married to Hixey STANLEY, a daughter of Needham STANLEY, in 1827. Francis M. CHARLES was married to Mary A. (don't know her surname). He had two daughters, Amy and Myrtle and five sons; Edgar P., of Salt Lake City UT, William S., of Cripple Creek CO., George M., Garefield and Seward CHARLES, of WASHINGTON D.C., my great grandfather.
