Ellington Home Cemetery, Quincy IL.

As always, I would like to thank the Great River Genealogical Society for their help.   They have published cemetery books for all of Adams County.   These books can be purchased from the Quincy Public library or from the GRGW website.   I use their books as a "guide" when I photograph these cemeteries because some headstones are difficult to read.   With the help of their books, I am able to figure out who might be buried in a spot with a hard-to-read headstone.

Ellington Township

This cemetery is located behind the Ellington Memorial Presbyterian Church at 4600 N. 36th Street in Quincy, IL.   It is a well-maintained cemetery that is still in use today.    In 1987 when the Great River Genealogical Society canvassed this cemetery, they stated that the cemetery was not connected to the church.   I do not know if this is still true today or not.

MINOR Mary Matilda --- Feb 7, 1858 daughter of "F. & A.C. MINOR.  aged 5yrs, 9 days.  GRGS lists her age as 3yrs, but it looks like 5yrs to me.   "Sweet Mary unto earth a little while was given, She plummed her wings for flight and soared away to heaven".
