PHILLIPS CEMETERY, NW ¼ Section 5, Lewistown Twp., Fulton Co., Ill.

At one time there were probably several members of the Phillips family who had stones, but the only legible one now is either P. H. Or D. W. Phillips, no dates. We know from records that a Timothy Phillips, the last survivor of the family, is buried here and two Civil War Veterans, sons of the older Phillips who came here from the East a few years before the Civil War. The family consisted of the father, mother, three sons and two daughters. The daughters died early in life during one of the diphtheria epidemics. Timothy's death certificate states that he died April 26, 191`1 70 years, 9months and 26days.

At this location was once a railroad station known as Phillip's Crossing. It was near the crossing of RT 98 and the C. B. & Q. railroad tracks in Big Creek Valley.

Woodard Cemetery, E½ Section 7, Lewistown Twp., Fulton Co., Ill.

There are supposedly, ten or twelve burials here believed to be members of the Woodward family. A smallpox epidemic took several children, all at the same time, according to people who lived in the vicinity. the burials are thought to have been before 1900. A wire fence is partly around the site and part of an iron pipe is lying on the ground. Cattle have been in it and it is overgrown with trees, etc. It can been seen from the gravel road which runs up to the Orville Jaynes farm. We have verification of two burials here from the Rambler Canton Register, Jan 26, 1905 and death certificate.

NW ¼ Section 23, Lewistown Township, now owned by Lela Matheny

There are a few burials here, but only some marble slabs left, no names or dates. A. J. Fitzhenry owned this land in 1871 and it is thought the graves might be some of the members of his family.
