| Riead, Abner, b. 1810; d. 8 May 1857 The correct spelling for the “Read” family in the Rountree cemetery is RIEAD as correctly inscribed on the gravestone of Abner, the father. The names on the rest of the family’s gravestones are in fact misspelled READ. Abner Riead was born in Virginia in 1810, died 8 May 1857 (not 1858 as inscribed on the gravestone). His seven year old son William T. Riead died on 10 March 1861 though the gravestone is broken and unreadable. William was the victim of an illness that also took the life of his mother Sarah Ellen eight days later. Sarah was the oldest daughter of Hezekiah and Nancy Rountree Wheeless. Tim Riead
