Joseph Brenton, the son of James and Mary Ogle Brenton, was born in Clark Co IN in 1826.

Book 1 page 31 Will Book, Powell County, Montana

I, Joseph W. Brenton of the County of Powell, State of Montana of the age of seventy seven years, and though feeble in health, being of sound and disposing mind and memory and not acting under duress, menace, fraud, or undue influence of any person whatsoever, do make and publish and declare this my last Will and Testament:

First: I give and bequeath to each of my children Mary A. Beach, Emma Shatford, Wilburn H. Brenton, Charles W. Brenton, Benjamin F. Brenton and Sarilda J. Brenton the sum of Five Dollars ($5.00) each, which said several legacies or sums of Five Dollars ($5.00) each, I direct and order to be paid to the said respective legatees out of the proceeds of the sales of the personal property owned by me at the time of my death, after first paying and fully satisfying out of said proceeds all my just debts and the expenses of administration.

Second: I give, devise, and bequeath all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate both real and personal, of every name, kind and nature whatsoever to my daughter, Larcena A. Brenton, of the County of Powell, State of Montana. Lastly: I hereby nominate and appoint my said daughter Larcena A. Brenton, of the said county of Powell, State of Montana, the Executrix of this, my last will and Testament, without bonds, and do hereby revoke all former wills by me made.

The foregoing instrument, consisting of one page besides this, was, at the date hereof, by the said Joseph W. Brenton, signed and sealed and published as, and declared to be his last Will and Testament in presence of us, who at his request, and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto John C.
