BUSHFIELD, KERN, RUDDELL, RUDDLE posted by Lois Mauk on Monday, August 19, 1996

Searching for connections to BUSHFIELD/KERN line. Have a great deal of information on descendants of Samuel BUSHFIELD (1767-1832), specifically his eldest son, George Taylor BUSHFIELD (1791-1822), who moved to S.E. Indiana (Dearborn/Switzerland Co.) from Westmoreland County, PA in 1817 and drowned in 1822 at age 31, leaving six children. George married Catherine KERN, daughter of Jacob and Susanna KERN, who also left Westmoreland Co. PA in 1817 and settled in Switzerland Co., where many of their family are buried at Ebenezer Cemetery. Catherine KERN BUSHFIELD later married Rev. Cornelius RUDDELL/RUDDLE and they moved to Jeffersonville (Clark Co.), Indiana with five of her six children. Catherine and Cornelius later had one child, Jacob RUDDELL. Catherine's oldest child, James Spielman BUSHFIELD, was taken back to PA by his grandfather and never returned to Indiana. The remaining five children of George Taylor BUSHFIELD grew up in Clark Co.
