Mark Baldwin
Scientist, was born in Ellis, Kansas, June 8, 1889. His paternal grandparents were Micah and Sarah (Morris) Baldwin and his maternal grandparents were Nixon and Louisa (Winslow) Rush. He is the son of Edgar M. and Myra (Rush) Baldwin. He was educated in the common schools of Fairmount, graduated from Fairmount Academy in 1909, the degree of Bachelor of Science, and later took a post-graduate course in the University of Chicago. He is the owner of 640 acres of land located in Georgia, near Albany, which comprises a part of the plantation belonging to the Albany Farming Company, consisting of 3,000 acres. This plantation was formerly owned by Ben Hill, the noted Confederate statesman of Civil War times. Mr. Baldwin is a member of the American Association for Advancement of Science and the American Forestry Association. In his early boyhood he wrote many clever verses which clearly indicated his poetic bent of mind. Tow of these productions appear in this book. Submitted by Gina Reasoner.
