Son of John A. (deceased) and Ella McNair Baughman (Shuman); born October 7, 1894, Marion, Ind. Chemist. Entered U.S. Marine Corps May 15, 1918, Chicago, Ill. Sent to Parris Island, S.C.; assigned to Company A, 4th Battalion; transferred to 51st Company, 5th Regiment. Overseas in August, 1918. Fought in Toul Sector; St. Mihiel Front; and Champagne Front. Died October 6, 1918 from wounds, Field Hospital No. 15. Buried in American Cemetery No. 1764, Belleau, Aisne, France.
