Sent to Camp grant, Ill.; assigned to Company C, 5th Limited Service Regiment, 161st Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia October 2, 1918, Camp Grant, Ill. Buried at Matthews, Ind. Survived by widow, Avahnell Marley Carter, Summitville, Ind., and one son, Burr Eugene Carter (by first wife), Georgia Ricks Carter.
