Son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Foster (mother deceased); born November 7, 1901, Yorktown, Ind. Student, Fairmount, Ind., when he enlisted in U.S. Regular Army may 7, 1917. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky.; assigned to Company D, 38th Infantry. Went overseas in November, 1917; assigned to Company A, Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Division. Killed in action June 7, 1918, near Cantigny. Buried in Military Cemetery, Belleau Woods, France.
