Son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan H. Freeman; born April 26, 1900, Richmond, Ind. Moved to Gas City, Grant County, Ind. in 1916. Printer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army march 5, 1917, Marion, Ind. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; assigned to Company I, 37th Infantry. Went overseas with Company G, 28th Infantry, 1st Division. Cited for personal bravery while acting as runner for the 28th Infantry. Killed in action July 18, 1918, battle of Soissons. Buried in American Cemetery, Belleau, Aisne, France.
