Son of William J. and Jennie C. Wonderly; born January 16, 1897, Windfall, Tipton County, Ind. Moved to Grant County in 1903. Attended Marion Normal College. Machinist. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army April 10, 1917, Marion, Ind. Sent to Ft. Dupont, Del.; assigned to 1st Company, Coast Artillery Corps. Transferred to 1st Trench Mortar Battery. Overseas in August, 1917; assigned to 1st Division. Killed in action September 12, 1918, during the St. Mihiel Drive. Buried near Cheppy, France.
