Of the fifteen regular
teachers employed at Fairmount High School during 1949-50 only five were
new-comers. Miss Harrington arrived in August from Needles, California, where
she had taught for two years. Her home was originally Terre Haute. Mr. Casner,
with his family, came from Mooresville. Mr. and Mrs. Cloud were not only new to
us but newly wed and new to teaching as well. They graduated from Ball State
Teachers College in 1949. Mr. Wood, a former member of the staff, returned to
Fairmount from Alton, Illinois.
The larger portion of the
teaching corps have established themselves as an integral part of the school
throughout a varying period of years. They are well known and highly respected
citizens of the community.
