Freshman Class
The freshman came to Fairmount High School from Fowlerton, Liberty Township, North and West Ward. Lola Small, Paul Thurscton, Judy Kesler, Dewayne Payne, Kay Ann Smith and Thomas Pulley were their officers in 1947, and Roberta Wills and Ralph Rautenkranz were the sponsors for the group as seventh graders. Fifty nine students returned for their eighth year in 1948. Their sponsors were Ada Hert, Earl McAnally, and Raymond Elliott. Their officers were historian; Charles Dumpert, treasurer; and Margaret Webster, social chairman. Class members were entertained with one class party which was held in the Playacres shelter house in the fall. Mrs. Noel Parrill and Mrs. Stanley Kesler were the room mothers for the class. Margaret Webster was chosen as Carnival Queen candidate for the Fall Festival that year.

The freshman as pictured above were elected class officers at their first meeting on September 9, 1949. The class members were initiated in September in the auditorium by the seniors of '50. The 68 members of the class held a chili supper January 18, 1850, in the high school cafeteria. Mrs. Gilbreath, Mr. Sullivan, and Mr. Caughell sponsored the group. Lora Nell Smith was the freshman carnival Queen candidate.
