Prior, private, 31st Michigan Volunteer Infantry, April, 1898 - May 17, 1899; second lieutenant, 38th U.S. Volunteer Infantry, August 26, 1899; served in the Philippines, mustered out June 30, 1901; second lieutenant, 1st U.S. Infantry, September 21, 1901; first lieutenant, 23d Infantry, March 24, 1903 - April 20, 1907. Assigned to 155th Depot Brigade; transferred to Headquarters, 2d Army. Major, September 13, 1917; lieutenant colonel, August 19, 1918. Overseas September 20, 1918 - August 23, 1919. Assigned to duty in G-1 section, General Staff, on staff of Lieutenant General Bullard, Toul, France, January 8 - March 14, 1919; Chief of Staff, American Expeditionary Forces, North Russia, March 14, 1919. With Allied expedition under command of Major General E. Ironside, British Army. Discharged September 8, 1919.
