Record. Born September 28, 1895, Greenville, TN; son of John W. and Laura Luemma (Richards) Sutphin. Came to Indiana 1902. Laborer, Jonesboro. Enlisted May 7, 1917, Fort Thomas, KY. Training: Fort Thomas, KY; Syracuse, NY. Assigned to Compny G, 30teh Infantry; transferred to Company D, 16th Infantry. Overseas November 22, 1917. Wounded July 22, 1918, Soissons; died August 1, 1918. Buried in Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
