Marriage Records

Alphabetical Index

These records detail the individuals that were married in Orange County between the years 1882 - 1920. The Indiana WPA preformed this work, completed in 1939. I have reformatted the columns and they now have the following arrangement:

• Name of Bride or Groom
• Sex
• Race
• Age at Next Birthday
• Date of Recorded Marriage
• Book that the information was contained
• Page of Book
• Father of Groom or Bride
• Mother of Groom or Bride

The WPA index was originally an alphabetical listing. One needed either access to the original records or knowledge of who the person was married in order to find spousal information. By arranging the information in Book/Page order it is much easier to find marriage partners. Many are still difficult to determine, due to the fact that some dates have many marriage. If you find that the person you are researching falls into that category, then feel free to email me and I will see if the Master Index (1826 - 1920) contains the information you seek.

Please note that this is an ongoing project with only a few books online. With over 11,500 names in these index this will take a while, but the information is worth putting online.
