    Foster son of Grant and Lottie Carter, of Lawrenceburg; born October 26, 1900, Glencoe, Kentucky. Farmer. Entered service December 26, 1917, Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Kentucky; assigned to Company E, 49th Infantry. Transferred to Camp Merritt, New Jersey; then to Camp Upton, L.I. Embarked for overseas July 23, 1918; assigned to Company A, 110th Machine Gun Battalion, 3rd Division. Killed in action September 27, 1918, in the Argonne Forest. (Burial place unknown.)
